Brown Ideye, a hero of the Super Eagles, has expressed his skepticism about Nigeria’s chances of winning the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations, citing a lack of cohesion and instability within the team.
Two years into Portuguese coach Jose Peseiro’s tenure with the Super Eagles, confidence in the team’s performance has not significantly improved. The squad has faced challenges in securing victories both on home turf and away, displaying a noticeable level of inconsistency.
Despite Peseiro’s efforts to address the issues, particularly with a formidable 25-man squad selected for the upcoming AFCON in Ivory Coast, Ideye remains unconvinced. While, on paper, the team is considered one of the favorites, Ideye contends that they are not adequately prepared to clinch the tournament victory.
