Texans WR forcing a trade as he wants to join the Atlanta Falcons

Houston Texans wide receiver John Metchie III is reportedly a trade candidate, with rumors suggesting he could move to the Atlanta Falcons.

As reported by Bleacher Report’s Jordan Shultz, several teams have expressed interest in Metchie following his performance in the preseason. “Teams have been inquiring about WR John Metchie III due to the Texans’ deep receiving corps,” Schultz noted. “It’s uncertain whether Houston will trade him, but multiple teams are monitoring the situation.”

Pro Football Focus’ Trevor Sikkema also mentioned the possibility of Metchie being traded to the Falcons to serve as their WR2.

Despite the speculation, it’s unclear if the Texans are willing to part with Metchie, given his potential and current role as the team’s WR4. Keeping him could be beneficial, especially with Stefon Diggs on a one-year deal. At just 24 years old, Metchie has shown he can handle a WR2 role, and a new team might help him reach his full potential more quickly.

After missing his rookie year due to Acute Promyelocytic Leukemia, Metchie played 16 games last season and has been productive this preseason, catching ten passes for 100 yards and scoring his first touchdown for the Texans.
