Sabres drop out of race to sign veteran as alternative is identified

NHL veteran Max Pacioretty has reportedly received offers from three teams and is expected to make his decision public soon. According to NHL insider Frank Seravalli, the teams interested in Pacioretty are the San Jose Sharks, Montreal Canadiens, and Buffalo Sabres.

The Montreal Canadiens are keen on re-signing Pacioretty due to his proven scoring ability, leadership experience, and familiarity with the team, having served as their captain. His presence could provide a much-needed scoring boost and mentoring for younger players as the team continues to rebuild.

The Buffalo Sabres see Pacioretty as a valuable addition who could bring veteran experience and scoring depth to their young, promising roster. Despite recent injuries, Pacioretty could thrive in Buffalo, offering leadership and a stabilizing presence in the locker room.

The San Jose Sharks are interested in Pacioretty to strengthen their offense, particularly in power play situations. His veteran leadership would also be beneficial in mentoring the Sharks’ younger players.

Pacioretty, a first-round pick in 2007 by Montreal, is expected to decide soon. Over his 902-game career, he has scored 330 goals and registered 338 assists for 668 points.
