Fayetteville, AR – In a heartwarming and unprecedented move, Arkansas Razorbacks basketball standout Tayleen Green is making headlines off the court with a bold and compassionate investment. The 20-year-old rising star has pledged $3.3 million to convert a historic estate in Fayetteville into a state-of-the-art shelter for homeless youth. The initiative, which Green has dubbed Project Second Shot, aims to provide housing, education support, mental health resources, and mentorship opportunities to young people experiencing homelessness in the region.
Green, who has quickly become a fan favorite for his electrifying plays and leadership on the court, said the decision was deeply personal. “Growing up, I saw too many friends fall through the cracks because they didn’t have support or stability,” he shared during a press conference. “Basketball gave me a second shot at life, and now I want to pass that on to others.”
The property, formerly a private mansion nestled just five minutes from the University of Arkansas campus, will be renovated to include dorm-style accommodations for up to 40 residents, a community kitchen, counseling rooms, classrooms, and recreational facilities. Construction is expected to begin this summer, with doors opening by early 2026.
