BIG CONGRATULATIONS: Virginia Tech Head Coach Brent Pry Named Paul Bear Bryant Coach of the Year
Virginia Tech’s football program is celebrating a monumental achievement as Head Coach Brent Pry has been named the 2024 Paul Bear Bryant Coach of the Year. Pry edged out eight other distinguished finalists to earn the prestigious honor, solidifying his reputation as one of the most promising minds in college football.
The award recognizes Pry’s transformative impact on the Hokies’ program in just his second year at the helm. Leading Virginia Tech to an impressive 11-2 season and a berth in the ACC Championship, Pry’s leadership and strategic prowess revitalized a team many had doubted.
“This honor is a reflection of the hard work and commitment of our players, staff, and fans,” Pry said during his acceptance speech. “Virginia Tech football is back, and this is just the beginning.”
Among the finalists Pry surpassed were renowned coaches such as Nick Saban of Alabama, Ryan Day of Ohio State, and Dan Lanning of Oregon. His ability to develop talent, particularly quarterback Kyron Drones and defensive lineman Cole Nelson, stood out as a testament to his coaching philosophy.
Virginia Tech fans are basking in the national recognition, hopeful this achievement marks a new chapter of sustained success for the Hokies.
