Cincinnati The Cincinnati Bengals will use a referee that is in the center of the pack when they play the Denver Broncos on Saturday, following a run of games with some of the league’s flag-happiest officials. Adrian Hill, who was promoted to head referee in 2019, will officiate his second Bengals game of the season and his eleventh overall. The average number of accepted penalties per game for Hill and his team is 13.43. Out of the 17 crews, it comes in sixth place.
However, the team just recovered from a 20-penalty game against the Arizona Cardinals and Carolina Panthers last week. Hill and his team placed seventh in 2021 and ninth in 2023 and 2022 for the most penalties called.
The Bengals’ 34-24 victory over the Carolina Panthers on the road in Week 4 marked their first encounter with Hill this season. Hill has officiated multiple Cincinnati games for the sixth time in six seasons, and he has the most assignments of any referee with 11 with the Bengals. With Hill officiating, the Bengals have won five of their previous six games, including their most recent contest against the Broncos in the latter part of the 2021 campaign.
