Neil Graham highlights what Texas Stars really need to make this season’s playoffs as they set to bounce back from…

As the Texas Stars gear up for the upcoming season, head coach Neil Graham is adamant about the areas needing improvement if the team hopes to secure a spot in the playoffs. Coming off a disappointing previous season, where they missed the postseason, Graham emphasizes a strategic approach to elevate the team’s performance.

“We need to focus on consistency,” Graham stated during a recent press conference. “Last year, we had stretches where we played excellent hockey, but we also had games where we fell short. It’s about putting together a complete 60-minute effort every night.”

One area Graham identifies as crucial is the team’s offensive production. The Stars struggled to find the back of the net at key moments last season, often leaving talented forwards underutilized. “We have a lot of skill in our lineup, but we need to capitalize on our chances,” he said. “Improving our power play and creating more opportunities in the offensive zone will be paramount.”

Defensively, Graham is equally focused on tightening up the team’s structure. The Stars’ defensive lapses led to critical goals against them in close games. “We need to be better in our own zone, and that starts with communication and accountability among our players,” he explained.

Additionally, player development will play a vital role in the Stars’ aspirations. Graham is optimistic about the contributions from younger players moving up from the AHL. “We have a solid group of prospects that are ready to step up,” he mentioned.

As the Texas Stars embark on their season, the message is clear: with focus, consistency, and development, they can turn last year’s setbacks into a successful playoff run.
