Port Adelaide coach Ken Hinkley lashes out at critics who wants him to be sacked, points out their ‘ignorance’

Port Adelaide coach Ken Hinkley has fiercely defended his position amidst growing calls for his sacking, labeling his critics as “ignorant” of the complexities of coaching an AFL team. Facing mounting pressure after a series of disappointing performances, Hinkley didn’t hold back when addressing the media.

“I’ve been around long enough to know how this works. The people calling for my head, they don’t understand what goes into building a team,” Hinkley said. “It’s easy to sit back and make judgments, but it shows their ignorance of what we deal with day in, day out.”

Hinkley, who has been at the helm of Port Adelaide since 2013, pointed out that despite recent struggles, his record with the club speaks for itself. “We’ve made finals, we’ve been competitive, and we’re always fighting to improve. That doesn’t happen by accident. It’s a process, and sometimes it takes time.”

The veteran coach emphasized that the club’s success isn’t just measured by wins and losses but by the development of players and the culture he’s helped to build. “Critics focus on the scoreboard, but there’s so much more happening behind the scenes. We’re building something long-term here, and that requires patience.”

Hinkley’s frustration was palpable, as he urged supporters and pundits alike to look at the bigger picture. “People need to understand that success isn’t linear. There will be setbacks, but the foundations we’ve laid are solid.”

Despite the criticism, Hinkley remains confident in his ability to turn things around. “I believe in this team, and I believe in what we’re doing. The doubters will see soon enough that we’re on the right track.”

As the pressure continues to mount, only time will tell if Hinkley can silence his critics and lead Port Adelaide to future success.
