After a disappointing loss against the Oklahoma Sooners, TCU head coach Sonny Dykes didn’t hold back in expressing his frustration with the officiating during the game. The Horned Frogs fell short with a final score of 38-20, but it was the questionable calls that Dykes focused on during his post-game press conference.
Dykes pointed out several key moments that he believed were influenced by poor officiating. “There were crucial penalties that changed the momentum of the game,” he said. “It’s hard to overcome that when you’re already fighting against a talented opponent like Oklahoma.” Dykes emphasized that the referees’ decisions played a significant role in the outcome, adding that his players felt the impact on the field.
One of the most contentious moments came when TCU was flagged for a controversial pass interference call in the first half. Dykes argued that the infraction was not warranted, leading to a critical touchdown for the Sooners. “I’m not sure what the officials saw there, but it was a tough pill to swallow,” Dykes noted, highlighting the frustration of both himself and his players.
While Dykes acknowledged the need for his team to execute better, he maintained that the officiating must improve. “We have to hold ourselves accountable, but at the same time, we need fair officiating,” he said. “That’s all we’re asking for.”
As TCU prepares for the rest of the season, the focus will shift to ensuring that the players learn from the loss. Dykes hopes to channel this frustration into motivation, but it’s clear that the shadow of the officiating will linger as the Horned Frogs look to bounce back in their next game.
