Purdue football made history recently, as freshman safety Dillon Thieneman became the 50th Boilermaker in program history to earn All-America honors. Thieneman’s selection marks a significant milestone for the Purdue football program and showcases the young star’s exceptional debut season.
Thieneman burst onto the scene in 2024 with impressive performances throughout the season, quickly becoming a standout for the Boilermakers. His hard-hitting tackles, athleticism, and ability to read plays made him an invaluable asset to Purdue’s defense. Thieneman consistently delivered game-changing moments, which earned him widespread recognition as one of the top freshmen in college football.
Purdue head coach Ryan Walters praised Thieneman’s achievement, noting, “Dillon’s work ethic and determination are second to none. From the moment he stepped on the field, we knew he had something special. His recognition as an All-American is well-deserved, and we couldn’t be more proud of him.”
Thieneman joins a storied list of Boilermaker legends who have been named All-Americans, including NFL greats such as Drew Brees and Rod Woodson. His All-America status not only cements his place in Purdue football history but also signals a bright future ahead for both Thieneman and the Boilermakers.
“I’m honored to be named an All-American,” Thieneman said in a press release. “This is a dream come true for me, and it wouldn’t have been possible without my coaches, teammates, and the incredible support from our fans. I’m excited for what’s ahead and ready to keep pushing myself to get better.”
With Thieneman leading the charge on defense, Purdue fans have much to look forward to as they continue to build a competitive program.
