Badgers most underrated players entering 2024 football season

As the Wisconsin Badgers gear up for the 2024 football season, all eyes are on high-profile stars like Braelon Allen and Tanner Mordecai. However, beyond the spotlight, several underrated players are poised to make significant impacts and help the team maintain its competitive edge in the Big Ten.

One such player is linebacker Maema Njongmeta. Despite being a key contributor in the 2023 season, Njongmeta still doesn’t receive the recognition he deserves. With his ability to disrupt offenses and consistently make tackles, he’s a key piece of the Badgers’ defensive puzzle. His football IQ and leadership in the middle of the defense give Wisconsin an advantage that may be overlooked by opponents.

Another player flying under the radar is wide receiver Skyler Bell. The Badgers’ receiving corps is often overshadowed by their dominant running game, but Bell has quietly become a reliable target for the offense. His combination of route-running precision and sure hands makes him an essential piece for the new-look offense under offensive coordinator Phil Longo. With more attention on the pass game in 2024, Bell could emerge as a breakout player.

On the offensive line, guard Tanor Bortolini is another name to watch. Bortolini has shown his versatility by playing multiple positions along the offensive line, proving invaluable to the team’s success. While linemen often go unnoticed, Bortolini’s consistency and ability to open running lanes will play a critical role in Wisconsin’s success.

These underrated Badgers may not be the headliners, but their contributions are vital for the team’s success in 2024. If Wisconsin is to make a deep run in the Big Ten, expect Njongmeta, Bell, and Bortolini to play pivotal roles in the process.
