The Miami Hurricanes have bolstered their coaching staff with the addition of Chevis Jackson as their new defensive backs coach. Jackson, a former standout cornerback for the LSU Tigers and a veteran of the NFL, brings a wealth of experience to the Hurricanes’ defensive unit.
Jackson’s coaching career has been marked by a focus on developing defensive backs. Prior to joining Miami, he served as a defensive backs coach at the University of Louisiana-Monroe, where he made significant strides in improving the team’s pass defense. His efforts were evident as he helped transform the Warhawks into one of the more formidable secondaries in their conference.
“Chevis is a fantastic addition to our staff,” said Hurricanes head coach Mario Cristobal. “His background as a player and his coaching experience will provide a new dynamic to our defensive backs group. We’re excited about the energy and expertise he brings.”
As a player, Jackson was known for his strong coverage skills and ability to make crucial plays. Drafted by the Atlanta Falcons in the third round of the 2008 NFL Draft, he had a successful stint in the league, playing for teams like the Falcons and the Denver Broncos. His time in professional football provides him with unique insights that he now aims to impart to Miami’s young defensive backs.
Jackson expressed his enthusiasm about joining the Hurricanes, stating, “Miami has a rich football tradition, and I’m thrilled to be a part of it. I look forward to working with our defensive backs and helping them reach their full potential.”
The addition of Jackson is expected to enhance Miami’s defensive strategy as they prepare for the upcoming season, promising a more robust and competitive defensive front.
