Trey McBride, the Arizona Cardinals’ promising young tight end, is feeling the weight of high expectations on his shoulders. Drafted in the second round in 2022, McBride was touted as one of the best tight ends in his class. Now, with his second season underway, the pressure to deliver is mounting.
“People look at me and see the draft pick, the accolades,” McBride shared in a recent interview. “But they don’t see the hard work behind the scenes, the grind every day to get better.” After a rookie season filled with ups and downs, McBride knows he has to elevate his game to solidify his place in the Cardinals’ offense, especially with veteran Zach Ertz’s presence demanding competition.
The pressure isn’t just from the outside; McBride admits he’s his toughest critic. “I have high expectations for myself. I want to prove to the organization, the fans, and my teammates that I can be that reliable target,” he explained.
