Charger’s Defensive-Back Has his Wish Granted After Finally Completing Move to Rival Team

The Philadelphia Eagles have added former Los Angeles Chargers defensive back JT Woods to their practice squad. Woods was a third-round pick (79th overall) in the 2022 NFL Draft.

The 24-year-old defensive back has appeared in 13 games, including one start, with 91 defensive snaps and 89 special teams snaps in his career. Standing at 6’2″ and weighing 193 pounds, Woods initially played as a safety during his first two NFL seasons before transitioning to more cornerback duties this summer under Jim Harbaugh’s coaching staff, somewhat mirroring a reverse role of James Bradberry.

Woods made the Chargers’ initial 53-man roster but was released to make room for running back Hassan Haskins, claimed off waivers.

The Eagles have listed Woods as a “DB,” leaving his primary position with the team yet to be determined. He is expected to provide additional depth in the secondary and contribute on special teams, where he has experience as a gunner on punt coverage. Following Woods’ addition, the Eagles still have two open spots on their practice squad.
