New England coach tells star QB he can leave after making an embarrassing ….

The New England Patriots are entering a new phase in 2024, marking their second effort to find a franchise quarterback since Tom Brady’s departure. While Drake Maye has given the team some reasons to be hopeful, it’s still too early to be certain of his success.

During an appearance on WEEI’s “The Greg Hill Show” on August 19, Patriots head coach Jerod Mayo was asked about a potential trade for Cowboys wide receiver CeeDee Lamb. Mayo’s response left the door open, saying, “You can’t talk about players on other teams, but you can put a call in.”

While it seems unlikely the Cowboys would trade Lamb, Cowboys COO Stephen Jones has made it clear that they have “zero” intention of letting him go. However, Mayo’s comment has sparked speculation, as it’s not uncommon for players to unexpectedly become available for trade.
