Ryan Day reacts as Ohio loses four-star prospect to Georgia Tech in a mult-million dollar deal

Georgia Tech secured a victory over Ohio State in the recruitment of four-star offensive lineman Josh Petty on Monday. By Wednesday, a report revealed the financial details of Petty’s commitment to the Yellow Jackets.

According to a report from On3, Petty has agreed to a three-year “Roster Value” deal with Georgia Tech, valued at a minimum of $800,000 per year. A source from Florida State, a school that also pursued Petty but did not land him, mentioned that his recruitment did not escalate into a bidding war.

Petty’s father, James Petty, told On3 that his son’s decision was influenced by the educational opportunities at Georgia Tech as well as the NIL (Name, Image, and Likeness) potential.

“My son and other athletes have the chance to establish a financial foundation that will help them transition into life and tackle affordability issues,” James Petty explained.
