Jim Hiller, the highly respected assistant coach for the LA Kings, is reportedly ready to move on as contract negotiations with the team have hit a standstill. Hiller, who has been with the Kings since 2021, played a significant role in refining the team’s power play and offensive strategies. However, recent talks to extend his contract have not yielded the positive results that both parties had hoped for.
“It’s been a tough process,” Hiller shared in a brief conversation with local media. “I love this team and what we’ve accomplished together, but there comes a point where you have to consider what’s best for everyone involved.”
The stalemate appears to stem from differences in financial terms and the length of the proposed contract. While the Kings are keen on retaining Hiller, sources close to the negotiations reveal that the offer on the table doesn’t meet Hiller’s expectations.
“Jim is a valuable asset to our coaching staff, and we would like him to stay,” said a spokesperson for the Kings. “However, we also have to be mindful of our long-term goals and the financial structure we are building.”
Hiller, known for his meticulous approach and innovative tactics, is not ruling out other opportunities. “I’m open to exploring what’s out there,” he admitted. “At this stage in my career, it’s about finding the right fit.”
As contract talks remain at an impasse, the possibility of Hiller departing the Kings is becoming increasingly likely, leaving fans and players uncertain about the future.
