As the upcoming season looms, Aztecs head coach Sean Lewis isn’t mincing words when it comes to his expectations. During a recent team meeting, Lewis delivered a stern warning to his players about his “no nonsense” personality, setting the tone for what he expects to be a disciplined and focused season.
“I don’t tolerate excuses,” Lewis began, pacing in front of the assembled players. “If you think you can coast through this season without giving 110%, you’re wrong. This isn’t a place for half-hearted effort.”
The room fell silent as Lewis continued, his voice firm. “I’ve been in this game long enough to know what it takes to win. It’s not just about talent—it’s about commitment, discipline, and a willingness to push through the tough times.”
Some players exchanged uneasy glances, aware that the expectations under Lewis would be high. Senior linebacker Marcus Reynolds nodded in agreement, later commenting, “Coach Lewis is the real deal. He demands a lot, but I know it’s because he wants us to be the best.”
Lewis also emphasized accountability, stating, “If you make a mistake, own it. If you’re late, there are consequences. I’m not here to babysit—I’m here to build a championship team.”
As the meeting concluded, Lewis left the players with a final thought: “You have a choice—rise to the challenge or fall behind. But remember, in this program, there’s no room for nonsense.”
With that, the Aztecs knew the season ahead would be one of the hardest-fought of their careers.
