Tommy Fleetwood’s wife, Clare, has been candid about the challenges they’ve faced due to gossip and their approach to finances. Clare, who is also Tommy’s agent, shared that the couple had to “navigate” through rumors early in their relationship, particularly regarding their 23-year age gap.
Clare, 56, manages Tommy’s career and their home life. She spoke on the Performance People podcast about dealing with doubts from their inner circle and making financial decisions with a fresh perspective during the initial years of their relationship. Podcast host Georgie Ainslie asked if the age gap was an issue for them. Clare responded, “It was more of a concern at the beginning because of what others might think, but it didn’t affect us. Once people saw our relationship was genuine, the doubters eventually admitted they were wrong.”
Clare also highlighted the unique dynamic of working together, noting that she oversees all aspects of Tommy’s career, which can be overwhelming at times. “I see everything from sponsorships to logistics, PR, and finances. It can be complicated, but it also means I understand every aspect of our decisions.”
Tommy added that having Clare as his agent brings a level of trust he couldn’t find elsewhere. “No one else would make the best decisions for us as a family like she does. Even though she sometimes speaks about my career as if it’s separate, I know she’s always considering what’s best for us both.”
Clare mentioned that their financial decisions are made based on family life rather than profit. “In the first few years, I stopped seeing things purely from a financial perspective. We’ve turned down many opportunities because I know Tommy values his time at home more than the money. We’re on the same wavelength regarding what truly matters.”
