Chris Klieman Hopes to Stay with Kansas State for More Years, but Decision Not in His Hands
MANHATTAN, KS – Kansas State head coach Chris Klieman has expressed his desire to remain with the Wildcats for the foreseeable future, but acknowledges that the decision ultimately rests with the university’s administration.
In a recent interview, Klieman shared his thoughts on his tenure with Kansas State. “I love it here,” Klieman said. “The community, the players, the staff – it feels like home. I hope to continue building on what we’ve started.”
Under Klieman’s leadership, Kansas State has seen significant progress, both on and off the field. His approach to coaching, emphasizing player development and a strong work ethic, has resonated well with the team and fans alike.
Athletic Director Gene Taylor, who hired Klieman in 2019, commented on the coach’s future. “Chris has done a fantastic job with our football program. We’re very pleased with the direction he’s taking us,” Taylor remarked. “However, in college sports, decisions like these involve many factors and stakeholders. We’ll evaluate everything when the time comes.”
Players also voiced their support for Klieman. Senior quarterback Skylar Thompson praised his coach, saying, “Coach Klieman is more than a coach; he’s a mentor. He’s helped us grow as athletes and individuals. We’d love to see him stay.”
Despite the uncertainty, Klieman remains focused on the upcoming season. “Right now, my priority is our team and getting ready for the season ahead,” he said. “Whatever happens in the future, I know we’ll keep working hard and striving for excellence.”
As the Wildcats gear up for another season, fans hope that Klieman’s tenure will extend, bringing more success to Kansas State football.
