Colorado football QB Shedeur Sanders is the best quarterback in the country, according to Buffs running backs coach Gary Harrell, who emphasized that CU’s offense is centered around the “Grown QB.”
“Everything is built around our quarterback,” Harrell said (h/t On3). “We have the best quarterback in the country. So our strategies are tailored to his strengths, whether it’s throwing the football, understanding defensive formations, or knowing when to change the play, whether it’s a run or a pass.
“Coach (Pat) Shurmur is an NFL guy who understands the run game. We’re making sure everything we do is based on what the defense presents.”
Harrell, a strong supporter of Deion Sanders, exudes supreme confidence in Shedeur. But he isn’t alone in his high regard for the QB.
Arizona’s Noah Fifita also views Shedeur Sanders as a “generational” talent.
“He’s special,” Fifita told The Coloradoan at Big 12 media days. “That’s a generational talent for sure. Watching him compete is impressive. I know some people criticize his tactics, but as a competitor myself, I love it.
“Everyone has their own style to win.”
Despite the praise, Shedeur needs to lead the Buffs to further success for NFL teams to consider him a franchise quarterback. Coach Prime’s NFL connections won’t guarantee a team over-committing to Shedeur based solely on Deion’s legacy.
