Mavericks Kyrie Irving undergoes another surgery for injury suffered while training

After the Dallas Mavericks were defeated by the Boston Celtics in the 2024 NBA Finals, they swiftly moved to enhance their already skilled team as the offseason began. The Mavericks made headlines by orchestrating the NBA’s first-ever six-team transaction, securing sharpshooter Klay Thompson in a sign-and-trade deal.

The trio of Klay Thompson, Luka Doncic, and Kyrie Irving will be a sight to behold on the court together. However, one of these three needs to successfully recover in time for training camp.

**Kyrie Irving’s Recovery is Key to Mavericks’ Return to Glory**

The Mavericks announced on Tuesday that Kyrie Irving underwent surgery to repair a broken left hand, an injury he sustained during a training session earlier this month.

While there is currently no timetable for his return, this is not unexpected given the recent surgery. Dallas remains hopeful and expects Irving to be ready for training camp, which is a few months away.

Although this is a left-handed injury for the right-handed player, it could still significantly impact Irving’s game if not fully healed by the start of the season. Known as one of the game’s most agile ball handlers who can finish around the rim, Irving’s reputation relies on his consistent use of both hands.

Hopefully, Irving’s recovery process will go smoothly, allowing the Mavericks to start the season with their full-strength squad. On paper, the Mavericks are undoubtedly one of the league’s most complete teams, but missing a player of Irving’s caliber would create a significant gap.

Last season, Irving averaged 25.6 points, five rebounds, and five assists per game.
