Five players from the UAB football team have been named to the East-West Shrine Bowl 1000 Watch List, which highlights the nation’s top NFL draft-eligible players for its all-star game in late January.
The Blazers recognized are quarterback Jacob Zeno, running back Isaiah Jacobs, offensive tackle DJ Jones, defensive end Desmond Little, and linebacker Michael Moore.
The 2025 East-West Shrine Bowl will take place at AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas, on January 30. This year marks the 100th East-West Shrine Bowl.
In the past two years, UAB has had three players participate in the East-West Shrine Bowl, all of whom are now in the NFL: Starling Thomas V (Arizona Cardinals), Kadeem Telfort (Green Bay Packers), and Tejhaun Palmer (Arizona Cardinals).
Zeno and Jacobs were part of UAB’s record-setting offense last season. DJ Jones, a graduate transfer from Murray State, is expected to be a key player on UAB’s offensive line this season.
Little led the team in sacks in 2023, while Moore recorded 63 tackles in 10 games last year. Moore will play a full season at middle linebacker for the Blazers this year after splitting time between outside and middle linebacker in 2023.
The Blazers are 36 days away from their 2024 season opener at home against Alcorn State on August 29. Single-game tickets are currently on sale for season ticket holders and will be available to the general public in August.
