The first preseason training camp under Brent Brennan is scheduled to start Wednesday, kicking off a month of workouts and practices before the 2024 season opener on Aug. 31 at home against New Mexico.

To prepare for camp, we’re breaking down each position group on the roster. Today, we focus on the linebackers.

Players on roster: 12 (9 scholarship, 3 walk-on)

Projected starters: Jacob Manu (Jr.), Taye Brown (Soph.)

Manu led the Pac-12 in tackles last season with 116, which would have ranked second in the Big 12. He also recorded 9.5 tackles for loss, 6.5 sacks, two pass breakups, and an interception. Not bad for a player who didn’t have any other FBS offers and was essentially added alongside high school teammates Noah Fifita, Tetairoa McMillan, and Keyan Burnett.
