Arizona’s Noah Fifita described Colorado quarterback Shedeur Sanders as “generational” during Big 12 media days in Las Vegas.
“He’s a special talent,” Fifita told The Coloradoan. “Without a doubt, he’s generational. His competitiveness stands out, even if some don’t like his style. As a competitor myself, I appreciate it.”
The two faced off in a memorable game at Folsom Field in 2023, where Sanders threw for 282 yards and two touchdowns, while Fifita passed for 214 yards and two touchdowns. Arizona edged out Colorado 34-31 with a game-winning kick by Tyler Loop.
The loss dropped Colorado to 4-6 for the season. Coach Prime hopes to turn such close games into wins as the Buffs aim for a bowl game, in line with Deion’s promise to Peggy Coppom.
Zona Zealots’ Mason Duhon, though initially hesitant, ranked Shedeur Sanders as the top quarterback in the Big 12 for 2024. “Despite the hype around Colorado, Shedeur Sanders is the standout talent,” Duhon noted. “His performance last season shows he’s a first-round NFL talent.”
Media recognition confirms that Sanders not only generates buzz but also delivers results. If he leads Colorado to a successful season, it could boost his NFL draft stock significantly.
